It’s Time for Us All to Strive for Greater Bag and Film Recycling. You Can Lead the Way.
The Wrap Recycling Action Program (WRAP) is a platform to engage stakeholders like recyclers, local/state governments, brand companies, schools, and retailers to educate consumers and facilitate film recycling.
This innovative public/private partnership focuses on recycling more plastic film found in nearly every business and household to significantly increase the recycling rate. A 2012 state-sponsored study concluded that Wisconsin could realize substantial economic benefits by recycling more of the valuable plastics film that currently end up in landfills. After assessing the existing infrastructure and state of recycling, the partners developed plans to address key barriers: access to recycling for businesses and lack of consumer information. In addition to a statewide consumer education campaign, WI WRAP will implement commercial demonstration projects in various regions of the state. These campaigns and projects around Wisconsin will provide valuable data for a nationwide program that launched in the Fall of 2014.
